Elizabethan period (jan 1, 1558 – jan 1, 1603)

Description:

Year 1558 Queen Elizabeth I took the throne. Elizabeth did not want to marry another powerful monarch and essentially give her power away. She managed to maintain an alliance with Spain by contributing to spanish "exploration" in America. However, to not much success since the spanish armada invaded England in 1588 but the armada was defeated.

Queen Elizabeth wore outfits to make her more affectionate, she died in 1603 without children and she never got married. Over 2000 gowns were found in her wardrobe. She is famous for her outfits, making England a superpower and colonizing the world. Queen Elizabeth I was the most powerful Queen England has ever had, having reigned over India, USA, Australia, Canada and Jamaica. During the Elizabethan period London became the largest city in the world with around 200 000 citizens.
