The Renaissance (jan 2, 1400 – jan 1, 1650)

The word renaissance is a french word for rebirth, referencing the time of great greek and roman philosophers, ancient culture and art. During the middle ages barely any significant scientific accomplishments were made and the renaissance sparks life in culture, scientific and humanistic progress.

The renaissance was started in Italy, Italy had been influenced by nearby ancient Greece and Rome. Italy was also an important tradingpost in Europe and connected Europe with the eastern world, a great deal of different cultures met and were mixed in Italy. It was also easier to survive in the climate in southern Europe which enabled humans to get more time on their hands to do other things than solely focusing on getting food and making sure they survive. This contributed to making Italy the heart of the renaissance.
