Description:

The Norman conquest had an immense significance on the evolution of the english language. Post Norman conquest old english evolves into middle english. The norman conquest fundamentally changed the english language, vocabulary grammar and pronunciation all came to develop.

Middle english primarily evolved with influence from french but also had influence from a great deal of other languages such as germanic, scandinavian and celtic languages. French was used in law, courts and in some schools.
