Thirty Years' War (mar 6, 1618 – oct 1, 1648)
Description:
The Thirty Years' War was one of the most destructive wars ever. The war was fought in the Holy Roman Empire between Protestants and Catholics, and it resulted in eight million fatalities. The Thirty Years' War involved many mercenary armies, which made the war more dangerous, as mercenary armies lacked loyalty and permanent allegiance. The war was one of the longest of all time because there was no side with a clear cut lead, and so the war dragged on for literally thirty years. Finally, the war came to an end when the Treaty of Westphalia was signed.
