Replay: Every child has the right to imagine (dec 1, 1988 – jan 1, 2020)

Description:

Replay was founded in 1988 by Brenda Winter. Winter described her idea for Replay as “a kind of Charabanc for schools”, which was a theatre company in Belfast. Replay places a focus on the lived experiences of the audience, much like Graffiti and TEAM but Replay differs by placing an emphasis on specific geographical locale of their audience. They have a model that aims to record the relationship between the history of Belfast and present-day Belfast by using dramatic form for audiences. There a was a demand from schools for this model but Winter did want to be a Theatre in Education community. She wanted to produce theatre that happened to be in an educational setting. This started a change of practices used in Theatre in Education to Theatre makers and companies (TYA) practices instead. (Jordan, and Weitz,154). Replay’s aims are to make innovative and quality productions for the young babies to older teenagers for all groups. They are diverse and have productions for disabled children, schools and families. Replay “believe that every child has the right to imagine” (Theatre for Younger Audiences).
