Dublin Contemporary Dance Theatre (dec 26, 1978 – dec 26, 1989)
Description:
Dublin Contemporary Dance Theatre was significant for the development of Dance in Ireland. It was the first state funded contemporary dance group. John Davis and Karen Callaghan set the theatre up in the late 1970’s. They taught contemporary dance classes which were performed at schools and local arts centres around the country. Their performances incorporated movement and texts, such as ‘Word Works’ (1985), and ‘Modern Daze’ (1989).
