Changes to Class Systems (jan 1, 1801 – jan 1, 1900)
Description:
this was a period of time where class structure gradually shifted from classes being a hereditary right to classes based on the wealth of the individual. This shift allowed essentially anyone to achieve the status of a higher class without being born into it.
This contributed to the development of individualism because it encouraged those who were able to act one their self-interest to gain wealth. Class system changes also influenced the rise of economic freedom because so many people did not want the government to interfere with their ability to increase their wealth and climb to a higher social class.
