Description:

The Haudenosaunee Confederacy was a group of five first nations tribes that united under the Great Law of Peace to maintain order and peace among themselves.

The Haudeonosaunee Confederacy contributed to classical liberalism when American scholars including at least one of the founding fathers took notice of the laws established by the Great Law of Peace. The most significant of the Confederacy laws being those that established individual rights and freedoms such as freedom of speech and freedom of religion, both of which would have direct influence on the American Declaration of Independence.
