The reasons for the Civil War included:
1. Monarchists wanted to put the Tsar back into power
2. Upper class and middle class people were in danger of losing everything under the Bolsheviks
3. Supporters of the Constituent Assembly hated the way the Bolsheviks had turned into a dictatorship
4. Other nationalities within the old Russian Empire wanted independence from Russian Control
5. The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk and the way it was viewed as a national disgrace
