Description:
The Battle of Coleto creek took place on March 19, 1836- March 20, 1836. After Fannin was ordered to retreat, he took all of his men and a cannon. They were going as quick as they could but had to rest their animals. They stopped in the middle of an open field to rest. During that time General Urrea caught up to them and surrounded them. The battle lasted a few hours until Urrea retreated because it was getting dark. That night Fannin and his men decided to stay with the wounded instead of escaping. The following morning Urrea returned with more troops and Fannin decided to surrender. The men were marched back to Goliad. There were about 10 Texans killed and about 60 wounded.
