Description:
- debate over slavery extension into the new states & territories
- addressing the problem that had divided the nation
CAUSE CIVIL WAR:
- Postition that Douglas had to take, the Southerners refused to support him in the Democratic Convention in the 1860s
-Lincoln was then elected leading to the Soutern Cession
