Mamluk Dynasty (jan 2, 1250 – jan 9, 1517)
Description:
Dynasty ran by the former slave-army of the Ayyubids. Keeps the Mongols from entering the Arabian peninsula/Levant/Egypt in the battle of Ayn Jalut. Also hosts the "shadow caliphate" -- so-called descendants of the last Abbasid caliph that flee to Egypt and seek refuge under Mamluk rule.
