Description:
DemocratEnsured the passing of the civil rights bill after the assassination of JFK.
Promoted a 'Great Society' aimed at tackling poverty and therefore included African Americans as many were poor and living in poverty. However, the Vietnam war brought an end to his 'Great Society'.
Appointed the first African American Supreme Court justice, Thurgood Marshall.
