Description:
An increase in illegitimate births occurred between 1750 and 1850 in England, France, Germany, and Scandanavia. This boom was the result of a rise in sexual activity among young people. A loosening of societal controls allowed for this to happen. The increase of births out of wedlock was a change from the strict social norms in Europe.
