Enclosure Acts http://www.branchcollective.org/?attachment_id=1896 (jan 1, 1604 – jan 1, 1914)

Description:

During the 310 year period, over 5200 enclosure acts were passed regarding the property of the people. Originally, common lands were made so that the working class, or “commoners” could farm the land. However in the 18th century, as a result of Enclosure, those common lands later combined into one large farm, which was only limited by the use of the owner. Overall, Enclosure resulted in less people working the land, this led to huge numbers of people migrating to urban areas (because of the Industrial Revolution) or the North American colonies.
