Montgomery Bus Boycott (dec 5, 1955 – dec 20, 1956)

Description:

This was a protest of the discrimination and segregation on public buses in Montgomery Alabama. Rosa Parks sat on a bus and refused to stand up, as such the police arrested her. Rosa Parks was the Secretary of the NAACP so she was chosen to be the leading figure of this protest.
To protest this, the black community began a citywide boycott of the buses.
There was violent resistance to the boycotts and its leaders.
After about a year, the supreme court ruled that the Montgomery Bus Segregation system was declared unconstitutional.
This event led to a rise in prestige for the civil Rights movement.
