The Irish potato famine (jan 1, 1847 – jan 1, 1855)

Description:

The Irish potato famine caused over a million deaths and over one million to emigrate, with the majority moving to North America, but large numbers also came to Britain’s main cities - notably Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and London. The Irish are not normally understood as refugees, but as pauper immigrants.
