Stonewall riots (jun 28, 1969 – jul 3, 1969)
Description:
After a police raid in the gay bar Stonewall Inn in New York, gay and lesbian people demonstrated during the following days against gender, race, class, and generational obstacles to becoming a cohesive community.
Outcome: These protests are considered the beginning of LGBTQ+ rights movements which later led to gay liberation and LGBTQ+ laws in the US.
