Lewis and Clark expeditions (jul 26, 1806 – jul 26, 1808)

Description:

Lewis and Clark explored the recently purchased Louisiana, and eventually explored all the way to the pacific. This was the first expedition of its kind, and it mapped out a lot of the continental U.S.

The effect that this had on culture had to do with the fact that it was an example of Europeans working together with Natives like Sacajawea to accomplish a shared goal. It also led to a bolstering of American patriotism because it was a major accomplishment in the name of the new nation.
