Description:

Competition between US and USSR to see who can get a human on the moon

-Apollo 8 (21 December 1968): first crewed spacecraft to leave low Earth orbit, reach the moon, orbit it, and return.
-Apollo 11(16 July 1969 - 24 June 1968): Landed on the moon completing and winning the Space race.
