Description:
This explains why Hitler was appointed as chancellor IN 1933.
3 December: Von Papan, the chancellor is very unpopular and Von Schleicher makes Hindenburg replace Papan with himself.
4 January: Papan sees that Schleicher is also unpopular and agrees to work with Hitler, so that he is chancellor.
22 January: Hindenburg refuses to make Hitler chancellor.
28 January: Von Schleicher resigns as chancellor.
30 January: Von Papan persuades Hindenburg to appoint Hitler as chancellor. He is made Vice-Chancellor and promises to keep an eye on Hitler and that there will be a limited number of Nazis in the cabinet.
