Occupation of the Rhur (jan 1, 1923 – aug 31, 1923)
Description:
Germany was unable to pay its next set pf reparations so French and Belgian soldiers occupied the Rhur, one of Germany's main industrial regions. They took all the coal and iron as its reparations and treated the workers very poorly.
The government did not know what to do so told the workers to do nothing for the French, so stop working, this was PASSIVE RESISTANCE. As nothing was produced, Germant lost a lot of money.
