The Reconquista in Spain (jan 1, 718 – jan 1, 1492)
Description:
The Reconquista was the struggle between the Christians of the Iberian Penninsula (eventually the Spanish crown), and the Moors, dating all the way back to the 8th century. It was fought sporadically until 1492. On January 6, 1492, Ferdinand and Isabella entered into Granada and drove out the Moors. This victory concluded the Reconquista, and exhibited the power of the Spanish monarchy. Granada was brought under the Crown's power, and eventually Ferdinand conquered Navarre in the north.
