Persian Royal Road/Achaemenid Empire (jan 1, 500 BC – jan 1, 330 BC)
Description:
The history of the Silk Road generally predates to the Han Dynasty, but one of the major arteries of the soon-to-be Silk Road was established during this time period. The Persian Royal Road went from Susa, in north Persia (modern day Iran) to the Mediterranean Sea in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), featuring postal stations along the route with fresh horses for envoys to quickly deliver messages throughout the empire.
