The End of the First World War
The armistace between the Central Powers and the
Allied Powers at the end of 1918 spelled the end of World War One.The Signing of the Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles put all of the blame for WW1 on Germany,
forcing them to pay billions in reparations,
leading to a crippled economy and an unhappy population.The US Stock Market Crashes, Starting the Great Depression.
The Great Depression led to economic instability and hardships for many people,
causing the rise of political leaders like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany
Hitler's rise to power in Germany led to Germany's aggressive expansionist and militarist policies
that eventually led to Britain and France declaring war.Benito Mussolini Declares Himself the Dictator of Italy
Mussolini's absolute power in Italy and the rise of Fascism led to his alliance
later on with Adolf Hitler as well as Italy's expansionism and militarism.The Anschluss
Hitler's invasion and annexation of Austria led to worry from Great Britain and France, but their incapability to do anything
caused Hitler to begin believing that he could take Europe easily.Hitler Annexes the Sudetenland
Hitler's annexation of the Sudetenland and Britain's agreement to let it
happen made Hitler believe that he could take all of Europe.Germany Occupies the Rhineland
Germany was forbidden to occupy any part of the Rhineland
because of the Treaty of Versailles, but Hitler occupied it
anyway, and western countries did nothing, beginning the start of a
policy of appeasement.The Nazi-Soviet Nonviolence Agreement
Germany and the USSR agreed not to attack each other at all,
demonstrating the beginning of war preparations for Germany
to take over all of Europe.The Pact of Steel is Signed
This agreement to form an alliance between Italy and Germany
solidified the two countries' friendship and foreshadowed the Axis powers.Germany Invades Poland
Germany's invasion of Poland is the trigger for the Second World War, as
Great Britain and France would finally abandon their policy of appeasement and declare war.The Japanese Bombing of Pearl Harbor
The Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii led the United States to
finally enter World War Two, as they would declare war the very next day.
