Ancient Greece (300 BC). Aristarchus of Samos postulated he could find the size of Earth by measuring its shadow during a lunar eclipse
Renaissance (1543). Copernicus proposes the first heliocentric model.
Enlightenment (1781). Herschel discovers Uranus.

Stonehenge is constructed (1600 BC). It is suggested that it operated as an astronomical calendar, with points corresponding to astrological phenomena such as solstices, equinoxes, and eclipses.
