Denmark Vesey, a slave who bought his freedom, plans a slave revolt and intends to lay siege on Charleston, South Carolina. The plan is discovered, and Vesey and 34 other coconspirators are hanged
Nat Turner, and enslaved African-American, leads the most significant slave uprising in American history. Him and his followers launch a 3 day long, bloody, rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia. Soon after Turner is hanged and Virginia makes stricter slave laws
