Events
Act for the Government and Protection of Indians (1850) passed, allowing for the dispossession of Indians from their lands and establishing a bail bond system for incarceration (LA).
The Greaser/Anti-Vagrancy Act (1855) legalized the arrest of those violating the anti-vagrancy laws, but this act specifically targeted Mexicans and Indians.
Foreign Miner's Tax Act (1850) forced foreign miners, usually immigrants, to pay a higher fee in order to work the mines.
California Alien Land Law (1913) prohibited illegal aliens from owning argicultural land.
The 1850 Indian Protection Act is fully abolished.
