Events
Kamehameha's final assault on Oahu in 1795, for one, was a D-Day invasion of more than 1,000 canoes that landed from Waikiki to Kahala.
When Kamehameha died in May 1819, another shock to the Hawaiian kingdom was being readied half a world away, as the first contingent of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions prepared the brig,
1790 At the Battle of Kepaniwai, Kamehameha wins control of Maui. Landing at Kahului, Kamehameha chases Maui warriors and chiefs. But Kamehameha then returns to Hawai`i to take control of fighting there.
1791 Seeking to conquer all of Hawai`i Island, Kamehameha heeds the advice of a high priest and builds Pu`ukohola, a large heiau dedicated to his war god, Kuka`ilimoku.
Kamehameha battles Kiwala`o, Kiwala`o's brother Keoua, and their uncle Keawemauhili at Moku`ohai. Kiwala`o is killed by Kamehameha's ally Ke`eaumoku; Keoua and Keawemauhili escape, returning to Ka`u and Hilo.
1788 The Iphigenia visits Kealakekua. On board is Kaua`i chief Ka`iana who allies himself with Kamehameha.
1826 Scholars and missionaries help Hawaiians standardize a written language,
1819 First breaking of the Kapu by the Mo'i of Hawaii, this changes Hawaiian culture tremendously.
1825 Kamehameha the III starts there rule on Hawaii after the death of Kamehameha the II
1848 The Great Mahele changed Hawaiian lives for ever, this cancelled Ahupua'a's and split the land into a different 4 section: Kings land, Cheifs Land, Commoner Land, and Land for Sale.
