Since I was three, my father already owns a personal computer. As my sister and I sat on his lap, we played virtual games such as The Sims and Virtual Villagers. We used this type of media to play games.
Being a child, I used a computer for leisure. I did not know how to use search engines nor was aware of the internet. At my age, computers were a good source of fun - and not merely for searching information.

Web Browsers and Search Engines
I was exposed to web browsers like Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox when my teacher already requires having printed images for our school projects. I used such media for educational purposes.
These web browsers and search engines are essentials as I use them to search for various information - may it be for education, entertainment, or catching up with the news. They are important pairs with the internet, for the internet has no use if there are no web browsers and search engines available.
LCD projectors were first introduced to us when I was in 5th grade. Our teachers used this kind of technology as their visual aids - replacing their 'word jackets' and Manila papers.
Using such media in schools help learners to understand topics better for the teachers are able to not only put words on their visual aids, but are also able to present videos and other kinds of graphic as supporting materials. On the other hand, teachers are also beneficiaries of LCD projectors for they can do their visual aids easier and faster without feeling tired of writing on Manila papers and cards.
Smartphone
My first smartphone was a Samsung Galaxy Y. This was given to me by my parents at 7th grade because I needed to commute at times wherein I go home from school at an unusual time. They gave me a phone in order for them to be able to contact me when I'm not at home.
Today, a smartphone is at the top of my list of the things I could not live without. My phone contains all the things I need in order to communicate and even gain or spread information. At a general scope, a smartphone is an essential tool because it is portable unlike personal computers.
Portable Computers
The first laptop we have owned is a gift for my sister on her graduation day. We used a laptop to play games, chat with our friends, and do our schoolwork.
Having a portable computer helped us to easily bring our devices anywhere. We can carry it when traveling, or when we want to transfer to any side of the house. Acting like a personal computer, laptops are easier and more comfortable to use. It also runs faster than personal computers which are much needed by students like me.
Social Media and Microblogs
I made my Facebook account when I was in 4th grade. My dad created my account, and even set my profile picture to a photo of me and Sr. Flor, a nun from the congregation of the RGS, who is our principal back then. I was a late-bloomer in using such social media accounts because I used the internet and our personal computers to play games and schoolwork.
Having social media accounts and being exposed to microblogs has helped me keep up with the fads and trends until now. It is not merely an essential, but rather a bonus as it makes communication much easier and faster. Although it promotes easier communication within people, it could also create negative environments and be the source of violence such as bullying.
Wearable Technology
I do not own any smartwatch, but I have tried to use one. This kind of wearable technology acts like a smartphone wherein you can also receive calls and have other widgets available while having it on your wrist.
This kind of wearable technology promotes a more portable way of receiving information. With the invention of such kind of media, there will be easier carriage of information as well as it saves the time of not losing your device.
Newspapers
Newspapers are one of the traditional types of media which help in spreading information about factual events in real-time.
Personally, reading a newspaper every morning with my grandparents honed and encouraged me to write, even at an early age. Newspapers are much reliable than any other online source until the modern times because only those who are authorized to write (e.g. journalists) are able to disseminate information thru newspapers.
Television
Television is one of the earliest types of media that I had been exposed to when I was a child. This is where I easily learned my ABC's and 123's.
Being exposed to this kind of media has helped me to know more about various things, and made me a visual learner. Furthermore, the television was my source of entertainment which acted as my stress-reliever whenever I am home from school.
