Pre 1800s: For over 4000 years Australia's cuisine was derived from its Indigenous people
European Settlement: The European Settlement brought meat, flour, sugar, salt and tea.
Gold Rush: During the gold rush, many Chinese people settled in Australia. They brought new cooking skills such as the use of the wok.
European/Scandinavian Countries: Immigrants from Germany, Denmark and Sweden developed the dairy and wine industry.
Cooking with Technology: Gas and Electric Stoves and Refrigerators became available.
American Influence: This began after and during WW1, take-away outlets began to appear.
Coloured Food Packaging: Coloured Food Packaging was introduced.
Melbourne Olympics: The 1956 Olympic Games brought many international chefs to Australia
