Pope Urban's Speech Pope Urban II makes perhaps the most influential speech of the Middle Ages, giving rise to the Crusades by calling all Christians in Europe to war against Muslims in order to reclaim the Holy Land
First Crusade Pope Urban called all of the Christians to take back all of the Holy lands and to rebel against the Seljuk Turks.

The Second Crusade The second crusade was led by King Louis VII of France and King Conrad III of Germany. They failed to recapture Edessa which had been lost to the Muslims in 1144. It was summoned by the Pope to defeat the Muslims who were still threatening to retake the Holy Lands.

The Third Crusade Also known as the King’s Crusade, the third crusade was an attempt by European leaders to reconquer the holy land from Saladin. It was caused by the capture of Jerusalem in 1187 by Saladin who was the sultan of Egypt. The Christians were led by Richard the LionHeart.
