Lockerbie started to grow when the landowners ,the Johnston family made plot of land avilible along the highstreet
Lockerbie had become a significant town and from 17805 it was a staging post on the carriage route from Glasgow to London.
Thomas Telfords Carlise to glasgow road was built through Lockerbie
the Caledonian railway opened the line from Carlise to Bettock through Lockerbie and all the way to Glasgow.
Lockerbie became known internationally due to the wreckage of the PAM AN flight 301 which killed 277 people 11 of the were residents in Lockerbie and the people on the flight were from 20 different nations.
