Beginning of the standardisation of the modern saw (1874). Start of standardisaion within industry and helped to improve standard of products and communication.
Start of the Industrial Revolution (1760) - Steam engines (1769) allowed for the increase in power of machinery and encouraged fast growth and development of machinery.
(1683) A range of planes were produced to be used for a range of different requirements. This was the start of the development of the many different types of planes we have today
Innovations in steel meant that steel began to replace wood as a primary structural material (18th century onwards)
Treade wood lathe (1884) was first lathe powered by steam/ electricity/ water. Open the industry to mass production.
First circular saw (1777) The development of the circular saw was delayed due to difficulty in making the blade

WW2 puts additional strain on forestry. Encouraged industry growth and a search for for effiecent and effect logging methods as well as wood construction.
Manufactured materials started to become favourable and development increased. Provided a use for by products and helped to reduce waste.
Richard Kegg with MIT developed the first modern CNC machine to increase production of helicopter blade for Cold War. Opened the indusrty to automation
Cut to length systems are introduced. They increase efficency and reduced opperating costs despite higher initial investment. Also reduced defects and more enviromentally friendly.
