24 jan 1789 Louis XVI calls the Estates General Meeting called by Louis XVI with all three estates in order to discuss the agricultural crisis. Caused the creation of the Tennis Court Oath in which the Third Estate sought to meet until a constitution was established.

26 aug 1789 The National Assembly adopts the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen The Declaration of Rights and Men gave a definitive response to the issue of the individual rights associated with the French Revolution. This was directly affected by the Tennis Court Oath in which the National Assembly was formed.

20 jun 1789 The Tennis Court Oath It was established by the Third Estate as a way of determining a constitution for France. It directly caused the forming of the National Assembly and eventually led to the joining of the First and Second Estates to the Third Estate.

14 jul 1789 The Storming of Bastille Bastille, which was a royal fortress, was stormed upon to symbolize the abuse of power by the monarchy. This was directly caused by the conservatism of the Second Estate during the National Assembly, hindering the creation of the constitution.

5 sep 1793 Robespierre's Reign of Terror Was a response to the French Revolution in which there were mass convictions of treason. Was the effect of the French Revolution, whose key component in the starting of it was the Storming of Bastille.

2 nov 1795 The Directory installed It was a five-member committee that ruled France until the taking over by Napoleon Bonaparte. The Directory effectively ended Robespierre's Reign of Terror

17 jul 1789 The Great Fear in the countryside Was a period in which there was a fear of the abolition of the Third Estate As a response of the Great Fear, the Declaration of Rights and Men was instituted.

9 nov 1799 Napoleon's coup d'etat, overthrowing the Directory Napoleon directly took over the government of France, making him the ruler. Directly caused the dissolution of the French Directory.

The continental system is implemented Was implemented by Napoleon to destroy trade with the British. Was a direct effect of Napoleon's coup d'etat.

3 dec 1812 Napoleon is defeated in Russia Battle of Trafalgar Due to the scorched earth tactic by the Russians, Napoleon's ambitions to take over Russia were eliminated. The loss of this battle would effect and foreshadow losses during other wars, including the Battle of the Nations.

18 may 1804 Napoleon is declared Emperor Napoleon is proclaimed Emperor of France. Was caused by Napoleon's coup d'etat which overthrew the French Directory.

16 oct 1813 Napoleon is defeated at Leipzig (Battle of the Nations) Napoleon was defeated by the allied troops of Prussia, Austria, Russia, and Great Britain. The defeat was caused and foreshadowed by the loss in Russia.

11 apr 1814 Napoleon is exiled to Elba Napoleon abdicates throne after suffering major defeats and losing support. Was caused by the loss in Russia in which Napoleon garnered support against himself.

Napoleon is defeated at Waterloo Napoleon is effectively required to abdicate once again, ending the Napoleonic Era. The weakening of Napoleon's army was due to the losses he suffered in many wars/battles including in Russia and against the Battle of Nations

The Women’s March on Versailles Was a riot of women who were opposing the price of bread. Was influenced by the Storming of Bastille and the Great Fear, common people wanted more rights.
