Events
The War Began 19 apr 1775 After all the taxes and acts, the Americans were fed up and they also just got notice of the British coming to Concord. This was the Battle of Lexington & Concord.
Stamp Act 22 mar 1765 This was when the stamp act was launched to pay for repairs from the 7 year war. This further annoyed the Americans.
Boston Tea Party 16 dec 1773 This is when the Boston tea party occurred. The Boston Tea Party is when Americans went on a British boat delivering tea and dumped it in the sea.
7 Years of War 13 aug 1762 This is not exactly but roughly when the 7 year war ended. After it ended, the British started taxing the Americans to pay for the repairs.
Proclamation of 1763 7 oct 1763 The Proclamation of 1763 forbade all settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. The proclamation made it so other countries could settle there.
Sugar Act 5 apr 1764 This taxed all imports from Britain with sugar in them. This started to annoy the Americans.
Townshend Acts 15 jun 1767 New taxes were added on various different things. This enraged the Americans.
Continental Congress 5 sep 1774 Representatives from all thirteen colonies except Georgia met in Philadelphia. This was the first congress made up of the "Founding Fathers."

Boston Massacre 5 mar 1770 On this day, there was a riot in Boston and the Americans were throwing rocks at the British. The British got mad and started shooting. They killed 5 people so it doesn't really qualify as a massacre.
Bunker Hill 17 jun 1775 This was the day of the famous Battle of Bunker Hill. The battle, though next to Bunker Hill was actually on Breeds's Hill.
Declaration of Independence 4 jul 1776 Today was the day that the Declaration of Independence was adopted. It was written by Thomas Jefferson and it was voted for in congress on July 2.
Fort Ticonderoga 5 jul 1777 John Burgoyne was captured on this day. It was also a famous battle in American history.
French Allies 6 feb 1778 This is important because the alliance with the French help end and win the war. This was very important to the Americas.
End of War 3 sep 1783 By the Treaty of Paris's terms, the British had to back of to Canada, Spain, & Florida. This ended the war once and for all.
Siege of Yorktown 30 sept1781 This is important because the Americans won the battle. After this there weren't many battles on land anymore.

Valley Forge 20 dec 1777- 19 jun 1778 At Valley Forge, Washington and 11,000 soldiers set up camp for the winter. They lived in huts that were to be made by the instruction of Washington.
