camp david , september 1959 eisenhower and khrushchev met face to face in the USA . there was no agreement , but the soviets did withdraw the berlin ultimatum . the leaders appeared to get on better .
paris , may 1960 just before the paris meeting the soviet union shot down an american U-2 spy plane over russia . eisenhower refused to apologise and khrushchev walked out of the meeting . no decisions are taken
