David Ben Gurion has born
Ben Gurion´s Grandfather teach him how to speak Hebrew. As well, he read him stories from the bible. This shaped his new way of life.
He as a teenager started his own Zionist group. This group was called the Ezra society, this name was selected in order to the Israelite scribe who led the Jews back to Jerusalem after the babylonian exile. Their goal was to promete the study of hebrew.
Zionist leader Theodor Herzl propose the creation of a Jewish homeland in Uganda. Ben Gurion and the Ezra were outraged by the idea and wrote a letter of protest to the World Zionist Organization.
At the age of 19 he boarded a ship to the holy land.
Ben Gurion land in Jaffa. The citizen of Palestine were dominated by Arabs. The only places for Jewish immigrants were a few settlements started by Baron Roslov.
He believed that the people who work the land owned the land he started working in manufacture un the orange groves, stompin grapes in the vineyards. Or hauling boulders and plowing fields in the Galeliee.
He work for 4 years. Then he more to Jerusalem to help publish a Jewish News paper. At this time he decided with his friends to change his name, from Grün to Ben Gurion, that means son of the lion in hebrew.
He spend 3 months learning turkish and studying law to represent the Jews Palestine in the Ottoman Government. But his plans were interrupted by WW1. The turkish allied with the germans and the Jews were accused of allied with the British because of they were the ones that made posible that the Jews can go to Palestine. He was one of many leader that was expelled from Palestine.
He created the Histadrut, that function as a prestate Jewish State. They supervised massive waves of immigration, creation of hospitals, school, sanitation and public works.
Problems with the Arabs widespread and the British did nothing or little to stop it, so the Jews created a army called the Hagana that means defense in Hebrew.
The British Senate Committee was summoned to discuss the conflict between Arabs and Jews in Palestine. David Ben Gurion assist to this convocation. He use the bible as a document to justify his argument.
The Peel Commission published and settlement saying that they will divide Palestine, 2/3 were going to be for the Arabs and 1/3 for the Jews. The Arabs didnt acepted the agreement and the jews didn´t want to, but Ben Gurion finally acepted.
The British Government known as the White Paper, were one of the most important point was that Jewish immigration and the purchase of the land in Palestine for the Jews were be restricted.
As world War 2 begin, Ben Gurion started to face a war of his own in Palestine. This was because the fight between the Jews and the Arbas, Ben Gurion named the group of jews that was making the attacks as terrorist and condemed them.
He launched a program that was known as the hunting season. That was the arrest and persecution of the terrorist gruop called Irgun.
The violence was too much for the British to support specially after WW2. The United Nations voted to divide Palestine in two States, Arab State and Jewish State. The Jewish leader accepted the partition, but the Arab leaderrs refuse again.
Ben Gurion Wanted to finally declare the State of Israel. But, his allieds tell him to wait because they thought that all the Arabs countries would go after them, and as well, the Americans were not supporting him.
