Timeline of Lulu's Life

Lulu is born.

Lulu loses her mother. -"I never grew from the curve of my mother's arms...she had tore herself away from the run of my life like a riverbank..." (Erdich 68)

"When I was seven, I found the body of a dead man in the woods" (Erdrich 275).

Lulu and Nector meet and fall in love. -Nector: "At boarding school, as children, I treated her like my sister..." (Erdrich 121) - Nector: "For the first time, on seeing her, I knew exactly what I wanted" (Erdrich 121). - Lulu: "He was my first love" (Erdrich 273).

Henry, Lulu's second husband, dies, and Lulu conceives Beverly's child. -""...the funeral in 1950, with the casket closed because of how bad Henry had suffered in the car wreck" (Erdrich 103). -"They had gone into the shed...passion took over them" (Erdrich 116).

Lulu meets Moses on the island, they connect emotionally, and they have children. -"...I rowed to the island in a leaky boat..." (Erdrich 76) - "...we wept, drank each other's tears" (Erdrich 81). -"...now that I was with child..."(Erdrich 82)

Lulu gets back together with Beverly Lamartine. "He looked at her...he had fallen. He could not help but remember their one night together" (Erdrich 116).

Nector burns Lulu's house down. - "...there was nothing to do but stand and watch it burn" (Erdrich 283).

Henry Jr., Lulu's son, dies. "I also knew that no accident would have taken Henry Junior's life..." (Erdrich 285)

Lulu marries Morrissey. " ...married a riffraff Morrissey for hurt and spite" (Erdrich 273)

Lulu has Bonita with a Mexican farmer. "I'd had my first daughter, my last child, when I was almost fifty years old" (Erdrich 285).

Lulu and Nector get back together and have Lyman. "On the sixth night of the week I left home...as I got to the road Lulu Lamartine lived on, I turned" (Erdrich 130).

Lulu and Nector share a final intimate moment at Senior Citizens before he dies, and Marie takes care of Lulu. -"He held me tightly, and we began to kiss" (Erdrich 290). - "...Marie volunteered to take care of me" (Erdrich 293)

Lulu confronts Lipsha about his past. "She told me about June in a simple way that let me know that grown-up business was meant" (Erdrich 299).
