His father died of cirrhosis.

Charlie Chaplin made a lot of movies with keystone and other companies, but in 1917 USA entered in the first world war.
He made "shouler arms", a movie set in the war.
He announced the built of his own film studios located in Hollywood, Los angeles C.A.
He made his first full-length movie called "The Kid".
After the success of "The Kid" Charlie Chaplin came back to England and he was received for thousands of people.
He read a book about the gold rush in Alaska and give it to him the idea for his next movie.

This is the moment when the "talkies" (spoken movies) was born but Charlie wanted to keep doing silent films.
He made City lights, a movie which overcame the talkies and it was the biggest success of the moment.

Chaplin died at home in Manoir de Ban, Consier-sur-Vevey, Suiza after suffering a stroke in his sleep.
He got a job interpreting a drunken party-goer and later he met Stan Laurel.
