Birth of Jackie Robinson in Cairo, Georgia
May, 1920: Moved to Pasadena, California
1939-1941 Became a football hero at UCLA, as well as a baseball basketball and track star. Met his future with Rachel Isum, a nursing student
1942-1944: served in the U.S. army, during which time he was stationed in Kansas, Texas, and Kentucky.
Started playing professional baseball on the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues.
Played for the Montreal also married Rachel Isum on February 10.
Became the first black american to join major league baseball as a member of the Brooklyn dodgers
Helped Dodgers win the world series
Received the springarn medal from the NAACP for his civil rights contrbutions
retired from baseball
First black American to be inducted into the baseball hall offane
The Dodgers retired his #42 uniform. The number was never assigned to anone else.
Jackie died of a heart attack on October 24 in Stamford Connecticut
