(1473 -1543) Copernicus said that the Earth was not the center of the solar system but the sun is.

(1731 -1810) Cavendish researched the composition of atmospheric air, properties of gases, the synthesis of water, magnets, a mechanical theory of heat, and calculations of the density/ waight of Earth.
