Travel Day! Today we went to Brookhaven at about the time we would head to school. We drove from there to the Indianapolis airport on a bus and arrived at about 10. We stayed there, ate lunch, and got on our airplane at 11:00 a.m. That plane would take us to the Miami Airport. From the Miami Airport we flew into the Guatemala City Airport. There, we were picked up and driven to our hostal.
Today is a work day. On this day we got to go to the orphanage and meet the kids. We also started our painting project, which was the project for the work days. We painted 3 or 4 of their rooms. That's pretty much all we did on Tuesday.
Work day #2 Today we did basically the same thing we did on Tuesday. We also got to start to know the kids better.
The going away party! Today we drove to Burger King with all 26 kids to hold a going away party for Carmen and Antonio. They really love fast food there and also extravagant play places. The play place was the main attraction for the kids but a clown came in for a half hour to entertain them. They also had two pinatas to finish the party!
Antigua! Day #1 Ths is the first day we had in Antigua. Antigua is an old town in Guatemala. It has beatiful architecture and we got to go to a choolate museum/ factory on this day. Later that night we swam at the pool at our villas. Me and Luke also ot sick this night.
Antigua Final Day Today was an exciting day. We got to go to the market! The market was a jumble of little stalls and vendors, all of them trying to get you to buy their stuff. That was also the day we drove back to our home base near the orphanage.
Our final day at the orphanage. Today we got to just play with the kids. It was very emotional at the end of the day because we had to say goodbye. We went out to eat with David and Cinthiya that night and said goodbye to them to.
Traveling Home! So, our plane was supposed to leave the Guatemala City Airport at 6:00 in the morning. Instead, it got delayed and we left the airport at 1:30! We were there for about eight hours. From there, everything went smoothly and we got in bed at midnight that night.
