Democratic-Republican (1791-1825) This party, founded by Thomas Jefferson, was a big impact in the south at the time. They believed that the government should have a co-rulership, state and national.
Federalists (1792)-(1814) The Federalist party, founded by Alexander Hamilton, was one of two major parties. They believed the government should be rule by the elite.
Democratic (1828-Present) Andrew Jackson was the modern founder of this party. It origins were based on the Democratic-Republican party.
Republican (1854-Present) This party was founded by Abraham Lincoln. This party tends to be more conservative than others. In favor of things like less government spending
Libertarian (1971-Present) The founder is David Nolan. Their Chairman is Geoff Neale. The Libertarians are strongly against government interfere in personal, family, business decisions.
Constitution (1992-Present) Their mission is to limit the federal government to their delegated Constitutional functions. Their 1996 candidate, for the presidential election, became one of the top runners.
Whig (1833-1860) This party was in opposition of President Andrew Jackson. they favored tariffs and national banking. The deaths of Henry Clay and Daniel Webster cuased the party to weaken and, eventually, end.
Communist Party USA (1919-Present) They take on the ideas of Communism and are followers of the Marxist group. They strive a world that is perfect and equal.
People's (or Populist) Party (1891-1908) This became a major party from the years 1892 to 1896. Their goals were to stop the free coinage of silver and abolish the national banks
Green Party (1984-Present) Founded by Howie Hawkins. They became popular back in April of 2001. The strive for four keys ideas: Peace and Non-Violence, Ecological Wisdom, Grassroots Democracy, and Social Justice.
