1933. Home Owners Loan Corporation Act creates HOLC as part of New Deal
1951, HOLC ceases operation.
1960s. Sociologist John McKnight coins the term redlining.
National Housing Act of 1934 creates Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation (FSLIC)
1989. FSCLI ended, activities folded into FDIC.
1937. Housing Act of 1937 (Wagner-Steagall) provides public housing subsidies. Creates United States Housing Authority (USHA) under Dept. of the Interior.
1965. Various Public Housing Agencies reorganized into HUD.
1949. Housing Act of 1949. Provided funds for slum clearance and public housing. Very mixed legacy.
1935. Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB) asks HOLC to create residential security maps for 239 cities.
