1597, inspired by Johannes Kepler's book and agreed with the Heliocentric view, not public due to Copernicus' negativity treatment.
1604, first known astronomical observation is of a supernova (explosion of a dead star) visible in the sky. It challenged Aristotle's claim of not thing will take place in the sky/heavens.
Dec. 1608, completed his custom made telescope. Saw the 4 moons around Jupiter. Contradicted Ptolemaic's theory.
1613, His agreement on heliocentric is public. No definitive evidence. Only phases of Venus; eclipses of Jupiter's moons; existence of tides which he believe will only happen if earth move; observable planetary speeds; distances of planets from the sun.
Feb. 1633, went to Rome for trial. Forced to recant. Under house arrest. Fall in Depression!!!!!!!
1624, Pope Urban VIII admired Galileo allowing him to publish his theory.
1616, books in favor of Copernican were ban by the Church.
