HTML 1.0 had only 20 elements that can be used as a markup language. It was the first time it became available to public use.
HTML 2.0 was used to create benchmarks when a lot of people started to use the internet. First graphical interface based web browser was Mosaic.
HTML supports tables!!! It was the first time one able to click pictures that led to another website location. First CSS codes and HTML made W3C but the browsers were not capable of reading the specification.
HTML 3.2 adds background color, font size and font face. Removal of the attributes of marquee and blink.
HTML 4.0 included CSS controllable elements like color, font, and background.
XHTML was created but XML codes can be sloppy, like a code can either be all caps or not and not closing the tag properly, the outcome stays the same.
Table less design in webpages became famous. More use of CSS rather than HTML. WEB 2.0 where people share and exchange ideas like Weblogs and RSS.
Web Hypertext Application Technology (WHAT) is released and created by Apple, Mozilla, and Opera (started in 2004). XHTML crew joins HTML5 due to downfall of XHTML support. (Mainly they realized it was bad).
Say no to Flash! Apple declares that they will no longer support flash due to security issues. Combining flash and HTML5 gave users to share videos on sites like YouTube.
The HTML5 proposal is recommended and finished for public.
HTML 4.0 was released to the public. The release needed a minor fix and came with HTML 4.01.
