First automatic printer is created by Xerox. The printer that they developed was called 'The Copyflo'.
The world's first thermal transfer bar code printer.
ESPON launches the world's first miniprinter, the EP-101. It was incredibly small at a size of only 102 millimeters in height, and 135 millimeters in depth. And it only weighed 2.5 kilograms. This printer was useful because it could fit everywhere without taking up so much space on the desk on where ever it was being used.
Gary Keith Starkwater invented a laser printer based on a modified Xerograpic copier.
Dot Matrix introduced the LA30 which is a 30 character per second Dot Matrix Printer. A downsize of this printer is that it required a specific size of paper which is not ideal for the global market.
ESPON develops inkjet printers that can reproduce digital images. This trend was followed by other major companies like HP and Canon.
Canon successfully develops a laser printer.
Canon introduces the 'PC Printer 70' which was the first plain-paper reader / printer.
Canon develops the 'BJ-80' which was the worlds first inkjet printer that uses Bubble jet technology.
The first major release of 3D printers by a company called 'Z Corp' are developed.
ESPON develops and launches the wireless printer for retail. This was a huge step because it meant that users could now print from their phones and other devices.
