Louis XV dies, leaving the French crown to be
assumed by his successor, Louis XVILouis XVI falls ill to smallpox and
dies shortly after, leaving the
crown to Louis XVIIICharles X requests that Louis XVIII pay
his debt, however he was deniedThe grain crop yield continue to
remain stable for many yearsLouis XVI enforces his royal power and
with the assistance of his chancellor, the
parlements were suspended, giving the
king greater power over the state. This
suspension is similar to the one back in 1770.The magistrates of the parlements
were threatened by the chancellor,
forcing them to become salaried
officers appointed by the crown.
They reluctantly agreed to this
proposal.Soveriegn courts concerned with
customs were next suppressed.The judicial system was made more
uniform.Protests by the nobility were met with
exile and suppresionThe priviledged and exempted groups
from taxation were now subject to
