Description:
In November 1920, General Henry Guru launched a full campaign against the forces of Sheikh Ali in the mountains of Nasiriyah . And entered the city of Sheikh Badr, which is inhabited by Sheikh Ali and arrested many senior Alawites. The sheikh fled to the north, but a large French force invaded its positions on June 15, 1921, and so the sheikh disappeared in his hiding place. Eventually, after roughly one year of hiding, Shaykh Saleh surrendered to French general Gaston Billotte. In response to a question by Billotte asking Shaykh Saleh why he ultimately surrendered, Shaykh Saleh told him "By God, if I only had ten armed men left to fight, I would not have quit."Ajouté au bande de temps:
